What Is Cloud Hosting and How To Use It for Your Work

What is Cloud Hosting

Cloud hosting services provide hosting on virtual servers which pull their computing resource from extensive underlying networks of physical web servers.Generally, clients can tap into their service as much as they need to, depending on their requirements at any stage. This can result in cost savings as they only have to pay for what they use, and because they can access it at any time, they don’t need to pay for additional capacity.

Who can Benefit From Cloud Web Hosting?

Cloud hosting is often a solution for web sites that have outgrown the resources of their existing shared hosting provider. If a web site is extremely popular and causes a strain on the resources supplied by a shared server, you may need to find another solution. Often this solution is dedicated hosting where your site resides on its own server. The problem with dedicated hosting, though, is that it is both significantly more expensive and requires a certain level of IT know-how. With cloud hosting, you can have many of the advantages to dedicated hosting without most of the challenges.

How To Use Cloud Hosting

Cloud hosting is a mechanism by which a server space is given in the cloud based storage space to let others use the space and access the space to use it for storing files, data, applications etc. Cloud computing has become a very useful platform in recent times as it is based on the phenomenon of sharing the space for multiple uses. With the help of cloud computing, we don’t need to bother about the space in our local servers as the storage space is available at a very minimum cost. To use cloud computing, you only need to have storage space in a cloud based storage server and your ID and password. With this, you can access your data anytime and anywhere. All you need is a high-speed internet connection.

Use on Public Cloud :

  • Most examples of cloud hosting involve the use of public cloud models; hosting on virtual servers that pull resource from a pool of other publicly available virtual servers
  • The same public networks are used to transmit their data; data which is physically stored on the underlying shared servers which form the cloud resource
  • These public clouds will include some security measure to ensure that data is kept private, and would suffice for most installations

Use of Private Cloud :

  • Private clouds are more suitable where security and privacy is more of a concern
  • Private clouds use ring-fenced resources, such as servers and networks, whether located on site or with the cloud provider

How To Host a Website On Cloud Server

Hosting a website on Cloud

In order to host a website on a cloud, you first need a cloud account. For example, Google provides cloud based storage in Drive. Now you need to sign into your account and create a cloud platform project. Then you need to start billing for your project. Also, you need a domain on which you will host your website such as .com, .org etc.

Next you need to create a C Name alias for your website. For example, if your website name is www.abc.com then your C Name alias i.e. your account on cloud will be c.storage.googleapis.com if you are using Google platform for cloud based storage. You need to check whether it’s working. Once its verified that its working properly you can now maintain the website on cloud. You can upload the files, see the traffic, manage the accounts etc. all on the cloud. You will never run out of space as the space is provided by Google.

In this way, you can setup a Cloud hosting and host your website on a cloud based storage. A cloud based storage is safe and secure way to upload your files without being worried about the server space. You only need an account and internet connection.
